One of the most useful career resources on campus is the Career Guide, updated every year by the UW Career Center (which happens to be located in 134 Mary Gates Hall). It’s also known as the “Gold Guide” because of its cover, but you can get it online too.

The section on Resumes seems to be of greatest interest to most SMA students. It has some really interesting examples of ways to help focus your resume, so it shows the relevant information, without allowing the irrelevant stuff to confuse the issue of what you’re capable of doing.
While most of the resumes are from undergrads, the techniques of showing your work skills are the same. Pay close attention to the info bubbles on the resumes and understand that you can use those techniques on your resume too. I’ll write more about resumes in future, but this whole section is really important when you’re applying for jobs.
