Another Scholarship, Deadline June 15

On behalf of Puget Sound Anglers Fidalgo chapter we would like to offer scholarships to students who meet our criteria. Last year we distributed $29,000.00 in scholarships.

We will be looking for students wishing to pursue a bachelor’s degree or higher in fisheries, with an emphasis in fish management. To receive full consideration each student that applies should provide the following items:

(A)  Letter of interest to include a brief narrative about themselves, their education plans, and their goals.

(B)   A resume

(C)   College transcript

 (D)  Letters of recommendation (no more than three)

 All applicants must submit scholarship applications to:

 All scholarship applications must be received by the scholarship committee no later than JUNE 15.

Gain an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of Whidbey Island’s famous Penn Cove!  Known for its delectable mussels, the waters of Penn Cove collect nutrients from the Skagit and Stillaguamish Rivers, creating an idyllic mussel environment. 

Join the Environmental Management certificate program as we work with the Island County Marine Resources Committee to analyze the water quality status in the Penn Cove area and determine how to influence future regional activities. Graduate students interested in marine affairs, public policy, business, water and biology analysis should apply for this Keystone Project!

Summer Camp Educator Jobs with NOAA

The 2009 NOAA Science Camp is hiring 5 Camp Educators for two weeks of camp and two days of training. They will serve as Team Leaders for groups of 10-15 middle-school-age students.

Time Committment    -  June 29 & 30, 2009: Required Orientation Session (Two 8 hour days)  -   July 6-10 & July 13-17, 2009: Two camp sessions, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Compensation – $16.50/hour  Deadline – May 24, 2009

Summer Lecturer Positions Open at CQS

The Center for Quantitative Science will be hiring 2 predoctoral lecturers for Summer Quarter 2009.  We have an opening in Q Sci 292 (Analysis for Biologists II) and one in Q Sci 381 (Intro. to Probability and Statistics).  The predoctoral lecturer will have sole responsibility for teaching the course.  (We hear that they are getting so few applications that they may consider pre-masters candidates.)
